Our language courses and tests are tailored to specific domains and kinds of communication. The designs may be in the form of a language plan, a language test, or a language course. The designs are imaginative and creative, yet deliberate and theoretically justifiable.
Our motto —GROW MEASURE INTERACT — refers to developing language, measuring language ability, and communicating successfully.
The tried and tested LCaT Academic Literacy Workshop, presented by Professor Albert Weideman, has prepared hundreds of Grade-12 learners for the Academic and Quantitative Literacy (AQL) component of the National Benchmark Tests (NBT’s) as well as international tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and MET. In South Africa the NBT results are used as additional admission criteria by different universities such as UCT and Wits, and different departments and faculties within universities, such as the Faculty of Law and the School of Tomorrow at Stellenbosch University. At North-West University, the TALL test (designed by Albert Weideman) is used for placement.
Albert’s advice to prospective university students: “Give yourself the best chance at success. Prepare. I am here to help.” Reserve your place in a 2025 workshop or order the book of practice tests.
